Term	Explanation
Staffing ratio	The relation of children to adults present. In Finnish henkilöstömitoitus, in the app often just mitoitus.
Multiplier	A child’s weight in the ratio: 1.75 under three, 1.00 for a full-time child aged three or over and 0.538 for a part-time child aged three or over, unless the child has their own multiplier.
Ratio	Children’s multipliers summed / adult capacity. One adult is 7 points.
Utilisation	The children’s multipliers as a percentage of the adults’ capacity.
Need	How many adults are missing (+) or spare (-).
Understaffed	Fewer adults than the children’s multipliers require.
Overstaffed	More adults than the children’s multipliers require.
In ratio	The choice at a worker’s check-in that counts them toward the ratio.
Home group	The group set for a worker or child. For a worker it is preselected at check-in.
Slot	The staffing ratio report’s 10-minute period.
Shortfall	In the report: how many adults were missing in a slot.
Open check-in	A check-in with no check-out. The report counts it until the end of the day and marks it as an estimate.
Staffing need	In roster planning: how many adults the children’s declared care times require.
