Term	Meaning
Roster period	The whole calendar weeks a roster covers and is published for. At least three weeks.
Work shift	One planned span of work: the day, start, end, group and kind.
Substitute shift	An open shift substitutes can apply for.
Employment contract	The agreement between the unit and a Worker: start, end, probation, duties, pay, collective agreement and working time.
Contract template	A ready fill for a contract you write often. Does not change contracts already made.
Target hours	The hours a Worker should be planned in a period under their contract, after public holidays, agreement days off and absences are taken off.
Extra work (lisätyö)	Work over a part-timer’s contract hours, up to full time.
Overtime (ylityö)	Work over full time, with a 50 % or 100 % uplift.
Finding	The result of one of Knuut’s checks: a blocking error or a warning.
Proposed change	A change to a published shift that takes effect only with the Worker’s agreement.
Change request	A Worker asking for their own shift to be moved or to be released from it.
Stamp	A check-in or check-out on the unit’s device. A stamp is never changed; a correction is saved separately.
Flag	A Worker’s note from the app that a day’s hours are wrong.
Period result	A closed period’s locked hours per Worker and hour category.
Time off in lieu balance	Time off earned from accepted proposals, less the time off in lieu taken.
Wage type	Your payroll system’s code for an hour category.
