Term	Meaning
Temporary placement (tilapäinen sijoitus)	The child attends another unit for a set period, for example a holiday unit, and then returns to their own unit. The child’s own unit does not change.
Host unit (sijoitusyksikkö)	The unit the child attends during the placement. Its opening hours and notice window apply to the placed days.
Home unit (kotiyksikkö)	The child’s own unit, which they belong to and are invoiced by also during a placement.
Holiday unit (päivystysyksikkö)	A unit that stays open while the others close, for example over Christmas or the summer. The most common host unit.
Holiday placements (päivystyssijoitukset)	The unit settings page that lists the unit’s arriving and leaving placements and places many children at once.
Arriving (saapuvat)	Children of other units who attend this unit during their placement.
Leaving (lähtevät)	This unit’s children who attend another unit during their placement.
Group in the host unit	An optional group the child appears in at the host unit.
Communication during the placement	The placement’s choice of whether guardians get the host unit’s announcements and whether the host unit sees the child’s conversation.
Upcoming	A placement that starts later.
Active	A placement whose days are running.
Ended	A placement whose end date has passed. Shown only on the child’s Placements tab with Show ended.
