Communication during the placement

For each placement you choose under Communication during the placement what guardians receive from the host unit and whether the host unit sees the child’s conversation. The default is Host unit announcements. The choice can be changed later on the child’s Placements tab.

Option	Announcements to guardians	The child’s conversation
Home unit only	Only the home unit’s announcements.	Stays with the home unit.
Host unit announcements	The host unit’s announcements as well as the home unit’s, during the placement and before it.	Stays with the home unit.
Announcements and chat	As above.	The host unit sees the child’s conversation on its device and in the admin during the placement.

When things are visible

• With Host unit announcements and Announcements and chat, the host unit’s announcements reach the guardians as soon as the placement is made, until the placement’s last day. The holiday unit can inform families before the first day.
• If the placement has a group, that group’s announcements reach the guardians the same way.
• With Announcements and chat, the host unit sees the child’s conversation only on the placed days, not before or after.
• The home unit’s announcements and conversation carry on as usual the whole time.

Notes

The text in Notes is shown only in the admin, under the child’s placements. Guardians do not see it, and it is not sent to anyone as a message.
