One child's placement
The child’s Placements tab shows the child’s temporary placements. This is where you add a single placement and edit or remove any of the child’s placements, including those made on the Holiday placements page.

Placements are added, edited and removed by a Unit admin of the child’s home unit or by an Organisation admin. The host unit’s admin sees the placement but cannot change it.
Add a placement
Section titled “Add a placement”- Press
Add placement. - Choose the
Host unitand, if needed, theGroup in the host unit. The host unit can be any unit of the organisation except the child’s own. - Choose
StartsandEnds. Both days belong to the placement. - Choose
Communication during the placement:Home unit only,Host unit announcementsorAnnouncements and chat. See Communication during the placement. - Write
Notesif needed, for example who drops off and picks up the child. Guardians do not see notes. - Press
Save.
Each placement on the list shows the host unit and status (Upcoming, Active or Ended), the group or No group, the notes, the period and the communication. Ended placements are shown when you tick Show ended.
Press Edit on the placement’s row. You can change the group, the days, the communication and the notes. If the child returns early, move the end date.
The host unit cannot be changed. If the child goes to another unit, remove the placement and add a new one.
Remove
Section titled “Remove”Press Remove on the placement’s row and confirm. The child appears only in their home unit again, also on the days the placement covered. A new placement can be made for the same days.
- A child can have only one placement on any day.
- The end date cannot be before the start date or in the past. The start date can be in the past if the placement is still running.
- The host unit cannot be the child’s own unit, and the group must belong to the host unit.
- The child’s own unit cannot be changed in the child’s details while the child has an active or upcoming placement. Remove the placement first.
- The placed days can include weekends or days the host unit is closed. Care times can still be booked only within the host unit’s opening hours.
If saving fails
Section titled “If saving fails”-
The child already has another placement for this period
Edit or remove the existing placement, or choose days that do not overlap it. Check
Show endedtoo. -
The placement’s end date cannot be in the past
Choose today or a later day as the end date.

The end date cannot be before the start date
Correct the days.

The host unit cannot be the child’s own unit
Choose another unit.

Only the child’s home unit admins can create a placement
Ask a Unit admin of the child’s home unit or an Organisation admin to make the change.

The child’s unit cannot be changed while they have an active or upcoming temporary placement. Remove the placement first.
