Installing the app on a device
Children and staff are checked in on the unit’s device. The device is an ordinary phone or tablet with the Knuut app installed. There is no separate attendance app: the same Knuut app shows the unit view when it is signed in with a device account.
Which device works?
Section titled “Which device works?”- An iPhone or iPad from the App Store, an Android phone or tablet from Google Play.
- One device per unit is enough. A larger unit can have one per group. There is no limit on the number of devices.
- Keep the device in staff hands, out of reach of children and guardians. Staff always make the check-in.
- The app runs in portrait orientation.
Installation
Section titled “Installation”-
Open the App Store or Google Play on the device and search for
Knuut.App Store: apps.apple.com/fi/app/knuut
Google Play: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.knuut.fi
-
Install the app and open it. The sign-in page appears.
-
Allow notifications when the app asks. The device is notified of guardians’ messages and absence reports.
-
Allow camera access when the app asks. The camera scans the device account’s QR code.
Signing in uses a device account created in the browser version. See Linking devices to units.
Device settings
Section titled “Device settings”Do these in the device’s own settings before the device goes into use.
- Automatic updates on in the App Store or Google Play, so the app stays current.
- Screen lock with the device’s own passcode. Knuut returns to the PIN screen whenever the app goes to the background, but the device’s own lock protects the other apps.
- Network connection over wifi or mobile data. Check-ins are saved as soon as there is a connection.
- A charging spot near the entrance or the group room, so the device is where the check-ins happen.
