Units merge over a holiday. How do we move the children to the holiday unit?

Give the children a temporary placement on the Holiday placements page with New placements. The child’s own unit and invoicing do not change, and when the placement ends the child appears only in their own unit again. Go through the checklist.

Why is a child greyed out, so I cannot choose them?

The child already has a placement that overlaps the chosen days. The row says which unit and when. Check the placement on the child’s Placements tab.

Why can’t I find a child on the list?

The list shows only the children of the units you manage. The host unit’s own children cannot be placed there. A Unit admin sees only their own units’ children, an Organisation admin every unit’s.

I chose the wrong host unit.

The host unit cannot be changed. Remove the placement on the child’s Placements tab and add a new one for the right unit.

The child returns to the home unit early.

Change the placement’s end date on the child’s Placements tab. If the child does not go at all, remove the placement.

Why can’t I change the child’s unit?

The child has an active or upcoming placement. Remove the placement first, change the unit, and add a new placement if needed.

Can the host unit’s admin edit the placement?

No. A placement is changed by a Unit admin of the child’s home unit or by an Organisation admin. The host unit’s admin sees the child’s details and care times during the placement.

The guardian’s week is partly locked and partly open.

Part of the week is in the host unit, whose notice window is a different length from the home unit’s. Each day follows the rules of the unit the child is in that day.

Does a placement change invoicing?

No. The child is invoiced by the home unit for the placement period too.

Do we need to undo the placement at the end?

No. After the end date the child appears only in their home unit again. Ended placements stay visible on the child’s Placements tab with Show ended.
