Term	Meaning
Care time booking (läsnäoloilmoitus)	What a guardian tells in advance about when the child is in care and when away. A plan, not a recording.
Default schedule (oletusaikataulu)	The child’s normal week from Monday to Friday. Applies whenever a day has no exception.
Exception (poikkeus)	A time or an absence saved for one day, replacing the default schedule on that day.
Booking (varaus)	A day on which the child has an arrival and departure time, from the default schedule or as an exception.
Reported absence (ilmoitettu poissaolo)	An absence a guardian reported. The reason is sick leave, holiday or another reason.
Absence period (poissaolojakso)	An absence of several days saved in one go. At most 90 days.
Care time booking deadline (hoitoaikailmoitusten määräaika)	A unit setting: how many weeks ahead care times must be booked.
Locked day (lukittu päivä)	A day inside the booking deadline. A guardian can report an absence but cannot change the times.
Week preset (viikkopohja)	A week’s times a guardian saved under a name to reuse them easily.
Opening hours (aukioloajat)	The unit’s opening hours. Care times can only be picked within them.
Contract (sopimus)	The child’s care hours per week. Caps the default schedule and the week’s hours.
Multiplier (kerroin)	The child’s weight in the staffing ratio: 1.75 under 3, 1 for full-time over 3 and 0.538 for part-time.
Weighted count (laskennallinen lukumäärä)	The sum of the multipliers of the children present that day.
Staff needed (henkilöstötarve)	The weighted count divided by seven, rounded up.
Temporary placement (tilapäinen sijoitus)	The child attends another unit for a set period, for example a holiday unit, and then returns to their own unit. The child’s own unit does not change.
Host unit (sijoitusyksikkö)	The unit the child attends during a temporary placement. Its opening hours and notice window apply to the placed days.
Home unit (kotiyksikkö)	The child’s own unit, which they belong to and are invoiced by also during a placement.
